Winning vs Losing vs Playing

Many of you were there, so you know: We didn't win the Nashville finals for the Hard Rock Rising competition. It came down to us, Phoenix Rising, and Mindset Defect, and Mindset took the win last night. No hard feelings on our part. Those guys put on a killer show, and they definitely earned their victory, in my opinion. And before you go thinking that I'm just being all diplomatic and PC and whatnot, remember who you're talking about here. When am I ever anything but brutally, painfully, offensively honest? No, they did well, and we had a blast sharing the stage with them. It was never about the competition. Not really. We ALL want to do our part to bring rock/metal some attention in Nashville. And whether it's Transcend The Fallen or Mindset Defect, it's going to turn some heads, and that's always a good thing. I would've been unnerved if we HAD won, because it was definitely not our best show, for various reasons. For anyone following us closely enough, or who cares at all about my personal life and/or well-being, I'm dealing with more kidney shit AGAIN. So I was in 13 different kinds of pain last night. But oh well, despite everything, a good time was had by all. Plus I'm hoping we'll be setting up some shows with the guys in Mindset in the near future. I'm coming more and more to realize that I am a lucky man in many ways. I love the guys with whom I get to make this amazing music. And I enjoy the life and the path we're on. As Stephen likes to point out, it's definitely not for everyone. But I wouldn't trade it for anything. We'll keep you posted on what's coming up next.

London Calling

Back from Texas, as of Monday. Sorry for the delayed update. Been exhausted and swamped, which is never a fun-filled combination. The War Of Rock show was killer, though I honestly believe we had more fun trapped in the van for 26+ hours. Over a 72 hour period, we all maybe clocked 5 or so hours of sleep apiece, so the road trip consisted of lots of delerium, which of course leads to hysterics. Anyway, it was fun, to say the least. The show itself was pretty awesome. My pick for the night didn't win, but the guys who did were excellent as well. They were more of a call back to older, more classic rock. I was raised on grunge, which basically killed all that kind of rock, so eh. Chock it up to personal tastes. We did meet some pretty cool cats in some of the bands, and they were stoked to try to set up some shows with us after seeing us perform. So we'll be making return trips to Texas in the Fort Worth/Dallas areas. Ironically, our friends in Unspoken back here in the not-quite-as-deep-south called us to ask how the show went and to discuss a totally unrelated show for Fort Worth with one of my favorite bands. So here's to hoping that works out as well. I don't wanna say too much and count my proverbial chickens. Definitely don't mind name-dropping for Secret Of Boris, though. Those guys impressed me, and we all know how difficult I am to impress. Anyone in or travelling to the Fort Worth area, check them out.

The studio in Texas didn't work out for reasons about which I'm told I shouldn't open my big mouth or work my silver togue. They're pretty funny, though. Wanna know? Hell, ask me. I don't give a shit :) You guys know how I do.

Anywho, onto the next page...

Tomorrow night is the Hard Rock Rising show for us, at (obviously) the Hard Rock Cafe in Nashville. We really need you guys to show up and show us that love. As most of you already know, this is for a chance to go play Hyde Park in London. It's free, and it starts early enough to not bitch about it being late, and late enough to not bitch about it being early. Seriously, come out. We need our fans to show 'em why TTF are the ones who should be on that plane to London! Right? Right. /End.

Texas Bound

New blog here. Thought we needed a way to keep all you TTF fans up to date on everything we've got coming up. Next Friday, March 9th, we'll be playing with our friends Saturn Rising for their CD Release Party at The Rutledge. We're opening the show for them, so get there early but make sure you stick around. The guys will be giving away a free guitar and celebrating Chris' birthday. We'll have to duck out early and hit the road. Saturday morning, we'll be pulling into Fort Worth,TX for the War Of Rock showcase. All of our Texas fans, make sure to come out; it's going to be a blast! I even picked up a new tie for Claudia. Tie tactics are so important. You know what I mean? Finally, March 16th we'll be back in Nashville for the Hard Rock Rising contest. We need everyone there as we compete for a chance to go play in London! Stay tuned.
